Tobago Calypso Monarch Auditions Set for October 10 at Shaw Park

The search for Tobago’s next Calypso Monarch begins on Saturday, October 10, 2026, when auditions are held at the Shaw Park Cultural Complex from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The auditions will give calypsonians an opportunity to present their material as they compete for a chance to advance in one of Tobago’s notable calypso competitions.
Participants are being advised to walk with their own musical accompaniment and be prepared to perform three verses and a chorus during their audition. Registration is $100, with registration forms expected to be available at the venue.
Beyond the competition itself, the auditions represent another opportunity for Tobago’s calypso community to showcase both established performers and emerging voices.
Calypso has long provided a space for storytelling, social commentary, humour and cultural expression, and the Tobago Calypso Monarch continues that tradition by giving performers a platform to bring new material before audiences and adjudicators.
With the first round now approaching, attention turns to Shaw Park as calypsonians prepare to take their opening step on the journey toward the 2026 Tobago Calypso Monarch title.
