Trinidad and Tobago cultural icon Superblue was celebrated in a special way at the Bishops Anesty Hight School Eeast Social Science Department’s Republic Day Celebration, where students and staff came together to show their appreciation for his contribution to the country’s music and culture.

Superblue was present for the September 23rd event and was formally recognised during the programme, receiving a token of appreciation as part of the school’s tribute to his enduring impact on the national cultural landscape. The presentation formed one of the most meaningful moments of an afternoon that combined national pride with artistic expression.

Throughout the programme, students and performers showcased several aspects of Trinidad and Tobago’s cultural identity, including steelpan, spoken word, dance, live vocals, instrumental music and choral performances.

Against that backdrop, the tribute to Superblue carried added significance.

For decades, his music and performances have been closely connected to the energy of Carnival and the evolution of soca, making him a familiar and influential figure across generations of music lovers.

By honouring him while he was present to receive the recognition, BAHSE gave students an opportunity to celebrate a living cultural figure and acknowledge the role artistes like Superblue have played in shaping the nation’s creative identity.

The moment served as a reminder that appreciation does not always have to wait for history to look back.

Sometimes, it can be expressed directly, while the people who helped build the culture are still here to receive it.
