Contender at 75: A Diamond Celebration of Calypso Excellence

Calypso legend “Contender” is set to mark an incredible milestone, 60 years in the business and his 75th birthday with a grand live concert at the City Hall Auditorium in Port of Spain on Friday 24th April 2026.

Known for his powerful storytelling, social commentary, and commanding stage presence, Contender has long been a respected voice in the calypso arena. This concert is a tribute to a lifetime of contribution to Trinidad and Tobago’s cultural identity.

The cast reflects that legacy. Fans can expect performances from icons and seasoned voices including All Rounder & the Hendrickson family, Johnny King, Twiggy, Hamidullah, Kaiso Mac, Master G, Jay Edwards, Squero, and Dr. Will B. Adding another layer of excitement, the night will feature sharp, quick-witted extempo segments from Black Sage, Myron B, Nyol Manswell, and Garry Ranks.

With a lineup that bridges generations and styles, “Contender Live at 75” promises a night of pure kaiso, humour, and musical mastery, honouring a man who helped shape the artform on and off stage.
