Celebrating Allrounder: A Lifetime of Calypso and Laughter

Today, 17th October, we celebrate Anthony “Allrounder” Hendrickson, whose humour, storytelling and lively performances have earned him a special place in Trinidad and Tobago’s calypso tradition.
His calypso journey began in 1967 with “My Little Brother Charlie,” written by his wife, Wilma, who also gave him the name Allrounder. With guidance from Lord Kitchener and the Growling Tiger, he developed a style built on memorable stories and a natural flair for entertaining.
Songs such as “Innocent Jimmy,” “Body Wine” and “Garlic Sauce” reflect the wit and playful spirit audiences associate with him. Behind the laughter is a deep respect for the craft of calypso and its ability to connect with people.
Music has also been a family affair, with his daughters Lady Wonder and Shirlane Hendrickson carrying their own voices into the art form.
His contribution earned him the Hummingbird Medal (Silver) in 2015. Two years later, the Association of Calypsonians UK honoured his 50 years in calypso with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
On his birthday, we celebrate the creativity, commitment and enjoyment he has brought to generations of calypso lovers.
Happy birthday, Allrounder, and thank you for the music and laughter!
