Calypso, Member Events Takes Centre Stage for History Month 2026

Trinidad and Tobago’s Calypso tradition moves into the spotlight this October as the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation presents an ambitious calendar of activities for Calypso History Month 2026.
The programme stretches into November and combines live entertainment with education, preservation and community engagement.
Among the highlighted events are the Brother Valentino Legacy Concert on 2nd October, Crackers and Cheese 9 on 10th October, Rubicon 4 on 17th October, and A Tribute to Kaiso Legends on 24th October.
The calendar also includes the Calypso Archives Launch at UTT on 29th October, the Steelpan Economy Song Launch on 30th October, Extemporama on 6th November, and the Calypso Connection Hybrid Edutainment Conference on 14th November.
Education is also a major part of the programme. School workshops, student workshops and community sessions are scheduled at locations including Arima, Belmont, San Fernando and Tobago, alongside the recurring Calypso Chords Music Course.
The mix reflects the wider purpose of Calypso History Month: preserving the stories and traditions surrounding the art form while ensuring that younger generations have opportunities to learn, participate and create.
TUCO officially designated October as Calypso History Month in 2002, creating an annual opportunity to recognise the people who contributed to the development of Calypso music and culture.
More than two decades later, the observance continues to reinforce Calypso’s place as both entertainment and cultural record, carrying Trinidad and Tobago’s humor, commentary, history and storytelling from one generation to the next.
