Bomber’s Dream Brings Calypso Legacy Into Focus

Bomber’s Dream: A Calypso Story is coming to Trinidad with a message that reaches beyond music.

The documentary explores the life and legacy of Clifton “The Mighty Bomber” Ryan, one of calypso’s important cultural figures, through the eyes of his grandson. At its centre is a simple but powerful question: What does it mean to inherit a legacy?

Presented through a special screening series with Heritage Library Division, NALIS and Kaiso Street Society, the film invites audiences to look at calypso as more than performance. It asks us to consider calypso as family memory, national history, creative inheritance, and a living cultural responsibility.

After the screenings, audiences will be able to engage in panel discussions with the filmmaker, opening up conversations around identity, creativity, heritage preservation, and the importance of carrying calypso forward for future generations.

The free public screening tour takes place on June 23 at the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago in Port of Spain, June 24 at La Horquetta Public Library, and June 26 at Point Fortin Public Library, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

A special evening screening is also scheduled for June 27, 2026, at the International School of Port of Spain, with doors opening at 6:30 PM and the film beginning at 7:00 PM.
